EventBank Founder Olivia Jingshu Ji: A Top 10 Female Entrepreneur
EventBank’s philosophy has always been one of diversity and equality within the workplace. Therefore, we are delighted to announce that the Alibaba Group awarded Founder and COO Olivia Jingshu Ji as a ‘Top 10 Female Entrepreneur’ at the prestigious Global Conference on Women and Entrepreneurship. The award was for women that had, among other achievements, created “business miracles” whilst “balancing commercial and social value”.
Many successful and distinguished attendees were present at the event, including Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group; Lakshmi Puri, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations; fashion designer Vera Wang and Chinese actress Sun Li.
The Alibaba Group organized the event, and throughout the evening the group’s esteemed chairman, Jack Ma, highlighted the importance of women both in business and in his own personal life. He stated, “it is women who encouraged me to undergo the tough times in the past 18 years since the founding of Alibaba”.
“Many thanks to Jack Ma and Alibaba for providing this honor, Alibaba continues to lead in empowering women globally.” Ms. Ji stated, adding, “Our EventBank team will continue working to create a technology company that creates positive social impact for all.”
EventBank and Equality
The event served to highlight the importance of women in business, and as well as being a company that creates “positive social impact for all”, EventBank employs 44% female staff. This figure is well above the average 30% of female workers in the technology industry.
The CEO of EventBank, Eric L. Schmidt, believes that we must “fuel growth with diversity”, a mantra both he and Ms. Ji have stuck to by recruiting a diverse EventBank team, in all variations of the word.
Ms. Ji’s recent award is a testament to the company she has built, and it’s an honour to have her many achievements rewarded by the Alibaba Group at such a significant event.
